I was not at the track Friday night, but several people called to tell me about Peter Byrd’s accident.

When I listened to the explanation of what happened, it sent shivers down my spine. It seems that he had the same trouble that I had, or at least the results were just about the same. I am truly sorry to hear about Byrd’s misfortune. He is a very good racer, I have a lot of respect for him and he is a friend. I hope he will get a new car or have that one repaired and get back on the track as soon as possible. I am glad to report that Byrd was not hurt.
